Healthy Family Summer Program

As your child develops the ability to think more abstractly the way they understand and process their adoption can change leading them to feel confused, conflicted or curious about what it all means. We know that peer-to-peer support is important for adoptees at this age and so this environment will give them an opportunity to connect with others in their age group who may share similar feelings. These groups will provide a platform for the youth to express themselves and learn how to communicate their thoughts and feelings about their own adoption. We will teach the group how to use the WISE-Up program, fill in missing people or parts of their story and put together a life book from their point of view.

Sessions will be held at our office in SF and snacks will be provided for each group. Prior to the dates, a short questionnaire will be sent out to parents to gather info about your child and his/her adoption. There will also be an opportunity for parents to have a 10 min debrief phone call the following week with Adopt staff.
