Hi! We’re David and Ruben. We admire your willingness to explore adoption for your child. You are caring and courageous. We appreciate you considering us to provide your child with a happy, loving and secure home and a lifetime of big hugs and even bigger smiles.

Our story began in Singapore, where we met more than eight years ago. We had both been transferred by our companies to work abroad. In this new environment, we were fortunate enough to meet through mutual friends and were immediately drawn to each other. We quickly learned that we share similar values and interests and found joy in making each other laugh. We became best friends and fell in love.

We moved back to the U.S. in 2013 and currently live in the Bay Area of Northern California. We love living here. There are a wide range of cultures, great restaurants – we love to eat! – fantastic schools, and beautiful parks and museums. The beach and mountains are both short drives away. We have two small dogs, Jelly and Bella – they fill our lives with love, laughter and puppy kisses. On Sundays you can find us at our local church. Our home is in a diverse, family-friendly neighborhood with beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay. We have a big backyard with a perfect place for a swing set! We’ve built a happy and loving life for ourselves, and we want to expand our family to share that joy and love with a child.

David grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, in a warm, loving family. He watched a lot of college football, attended church almost every Sunday, ran cross-country, ate barbecue all over the South, was a summer camper, and spent many weekends in the country with his extended family. He attended college at Furman (a liberal arts college in South Carolina) and law school at Harvard. David loves his job as a lawyer with a company based in the Bay Area. He frequently has his nose in a book but also likes to jog, ski, watch movies, work in the garden, spend time with family including his niece, watch House Hunters, and do pretty much anything with Ruben. David’s mother was adopted and, thus, he has seen firsthand what a wonderful gift adoption can be.

Ruben was born and raised in San Jose, California, in a large – and loud! – extended Filipino family. He was a Boy Scout and an altar boy, he ran cross-country and did a lot of swimming, hiking and camping. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and has been working in public relations for the same company for 15 years. Ruben loves to cook, spend time with family and friends, try new restaurants, spoil our dogs, travel, and help other people. He is generous, kind, creative and nurturing.

We dream of becoming parents and will provide unconditional love, patience and consistency to our child. We look forward to visiting parks and the zoo, playing games, watching cartoons, singing, dancing, being silly, reading books, and going on family vacations. With our supportive families (many of whom live close by in the Bay Area), our child will grow up celebrating holidays, birthdays, graduations and other important events – both big and small – surrounded by loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends and their children.
